OOC Name: Counter <3 Years RP'ing: Four. Where did you find us?: Google Search. Yo mama jokes: If they don't work on Spock, they DEFINATELY won't work on Devon.
Character name: Devon/Surik Blackwell Character Age: 10 Character Gender: Male Race: Vulcan/Human Rank (if applicable): - Ship: USS Enterprise, as a Guest Division: - Brief Description: Being a pre-teenager is definitely not easy. It's especially not easy when one is half human, and half vulcan. Built small but fleet of foot, Devon has always had to fight his way through life. He sports a slightly grown-out bowl cut with bangs just barely beginning to conceal hazel brown eyes. His ears, with very fine tips, just barely poke out under his black hair as if they are hiding beneath it.
Devon is, understandably, quiet. Those who do not know vulcans see an unemotional, very smart, yet rather determined boy. Those who know vulcans see a boy desperately trying to keep his feelings hidden, valiantly attempting to use that cold-faced logic that has been hardwired into his brain from birth. And ten, those who know Devon see a lonely child in need of a friend and a little bit of compassion. He has never really had the attention he should have as a young child, and does not exactly know how to make friends and be a friend. He hasn't really ever had a true friend.
The boy also strives to prove himself amongst his family and age-group peers - he is the boy no one really expects to amount to much due to his stoic, usually cold and very much logical-yet-not-logical personality he shows to the world. Many a time he has come home bloodied and beaten by the other boys of his age, as they've come to realize he is different and he hasn't shown himself to be much of a 'friendly' person 'worth' being 'friends' with. And, as it seems, many a time he has lost his temper and fought back against the merciless taunts and physical blows.
Devon, though part vulcan, hasn't really been exposed to much Vulcan philosophy. Though his mother had begun to teach him how to suppress his emotions, she never got the chance to fully teach him as she, one day, simply left the house and never returned. Devon knew it was because her family, on Vulcan, disapproved of her marriage to a human and her child she had with said human. It filled him with a powerful emotion he was being taught to ignore - sadness.
The boy took it very hard. Though his father, a hard working man, took it hard also, no one really realized how hard little six-year-old Devon was hit by his dear mother's abrupt exit from all their lives. He became even quieter, and those who knew him realized he was desperately practicing his mother's people's logical ways, probably believing that if he kept practicing, his mother might return.
Four long years later, he is still fighting to push down his emotions, and is losing his personal fight with his very soul. Though he doesn't want to ever admit it, he shows emotion all the time, and he isn't quite as loyal to the Vulcan way as he should be. Most Vulcans would be very offended by him and his mock-unemotional ways. Devon also eats meat, something alone is taboo for any good vulcan.
His ignorance to his mother's culture can only be blamed on the fact that he was very much raised on Earth, and is more of a human than a vulcan. It is unlikely he will ever really be able to comprehend much else of the vulcan way, as he is already too used to his mixed Vulcan/Human life.
Although he goes by his human name, his mother did give him a vulcan name also; that of 'Surik', a name he both loves and hates. He can't decide if he wants to go by one or the other. He mostly goes with his human name, as it is the name he is most familiar with.
He is on the USS Enterprise as T'Pyn's guest, as he is her cousin and in her protective custody for... top secret reasons.

We've discussed this, and the relationship between Devon and T'Pyn.
Approved, obviously! The only criticism I'd have would be to choose between a human and Vulcan name officially, even if little Devon hasn't chosen it in his heart. For example, T'Pyn was born as T'Pyn Prudence Withrow, but upon moving to Vulcan, her last two names were stricken from records and she was given her mother's family name, in accordance with her mother's wishes; despite that, her father still calls her by her former middle name. See what I mean?

Well, legally he is actually just Devon Blackwell (I haven't decided his middle name yet - most likely leaning towards 'Kendall') but vulcans who know his vulcan name sometimes choose to call him by it.
*rolls around*
Now I must find a good kid actor to play the part and be his 'face'. @.@
